Blog 5: Final Advocacy.

I've learned alot in this class.  I learned how to be a better advocate by understanding each child and parent situations, and how to provide strategies to help improve child's successes.  I also learn how to create an outline, write a rough draft and final draft for my research paper.  My main sources are getting ideas from the Learning Tree, online sources and the two books for this class.  This would helped me change my perspective of being a better teacher in all children.  The two books called Publication Manual and Informed Advocacy in Early Childhood Care and Education helped me be more responsible for making the choices for the child's needs and other areas that they need to work on.  In the Publication Manual, it's important to know the rights of protecting children's safety.  This is a key to understand how to write a clear and concise paper to help me improve my future research.  In the Advocacy in Early Childhood Care and Education, it shows important information about our experience in working with other teachers and professionals in the classroom environment.  They would also ask questions and offer suggestions to help each child improve my learning.

I also learned how important it is to be responsible in all children's educational needs and their parents choices when it comes to what are the best choices for their emotional and behavioral disorders.   Always make sure to take the advantage or every opportunity to understand issues to help face children's situations (Kieff 2009 p. 200).  It's also important to demonstrate good judgement around others.  It's the only way to show respect and help create an understanding of each other ideas.  All of this would make a difference in all their future lives.

Blog 4: Research Paper.

I've observed the other three children who have the same behavioral and emotional disorders.   I've learned to figure out more about what causes those behaviors and finding other solutions to improve in that area.  At first, the two teachers tried to change their learning styles to help them understand their assignment more clearly. They did the same activity that I've discussed last time.  Both the teachers are also trying to spend time like doing activities about money for example.  This would show them individually how money works and how its used in our everyday lives.  Later, we took tests to see how they know about what they just learned.

The two insight that I've learned is that they learned the difference between doing their own things and getting help from others or ask for help if it's needed.  This would help them build their own ideas and objectives used to analyze and predict what are the best choices for them to be an successful classmates.  They would also learn the manners and rules of the classroom. It's the only way to develop respect with other children.  Another insight is that I've worked on testing them to figure out each child's strengths and weakness in their development.  At first, it would be an easy task, but it became difficult when I asked them a question and they had no idea what to say.  They were working on their basic skills in reading and writing.

It's important to enhance their learning styles by finding strategies that would work for the child's needs.  The purpose of doing this writing and reading area helps them develop the importance of being an successful student.  It's a way to create a wide range of activities and skills to improve their education needs.  I really hope to change and improve their future development.

Blog 3: Interacting with Professionals/Administrators and your Advocacy Plan

I've interacted with about three children out of seven children. Throughout the day, they had so many activities to do that day. They were busy doing reading, math, writing and few more that they had throughout the day.  Each child are catching up with old work.  So, they are doing some free time to finish their work.  The first child I helped him with math.  At first, he didn't need help until he complaints that the homework was too hard for him.  I've told him so many times that I have confident that you are going to going to do well.  I've noticed right away that he wants attention and his teachers told me that he could do it on his own.  I've waited a few minutes to see if he could do it.  If he didn't, I helped him with a few questions and i believe that he understand the assignment.

The second child, started doing his work on reading and writing. Half the time he spaced out and talked to other peers while he's still working.  At first, I didn't like the idea because he interrupted the kids about what he is doing in lunch today and other random things that he says.    I've told him to stop talking and do your work. He stopped for a few minutes until he started to compliant about his homework is too hard.  The teachers told me that he could do it on his own.  After we told him that, he started throwing things and his teachers told him to stop.  He didn't listen and one of his teacher took him to time out. Then finally last child, he started doing his work and the other children started talking to him.  We told them to stop talking and do your work.  He started working until he was playing with his pencil and other instruments to distract the kids.  He was making a lot of sounds.  We told him stop and he didn't listen and the other teacher told him to go to other room to continue working on his social studies.

My new insight is that they are testing them on how much they know about certain activities like in math for example. This would let them know if they understand this activity more clearly. Throughout this field, this idea would helped me understand the importance of being advocacy teacher and helping the parents to be successful in their child's needs and wants.  My biggest challenge is figure out what strategies to give for the parents to understand the reason why disabilities affect children's learning.  I really hope I would improved their education skills and other successes in his/her life.

Blog 2: My Classroom Observation.

The name of the program is called SEDOL in Lake County. There's about five schools in this program. The teacher name is Mrs. K. She handles emotional and behavior problems.  I've talked to principal and director of the this school program.  There's about 5-7 kids in the classroom.  The environment is very organized. She handles the classroom very well and I don't have any problems with her students and other teachers in this school.  I enjoyed spending time with her class and I've the importance of how to handle situations in the classroom. My insight is that they have a lot of things to handle like making sure that they are staying out trouble, making sure that they know the rules of the classroom, respect other peers around them, and other important things that they should know about. My biggest challenge is how to handle children who are emotional impaired and/or who has behavioral problems in the classroom.  I feel that this is going to be a lot of work, but this would help me improve my interaction skills and other areas that I should know about.  I've asked the teacher what testing do you use to improve their children's learning, what strategies to use to improve these situations, how does diversity affect children's learning, what's their strengths and weakness in their learning, what kind of testing to use for those behaviors, and other issues that we faced in the classroom.  We are continuing researching about these questions.  My two insight is to give each child a chance to experience life of being a good children, and also making sure that I understand the importance of children's educational skills and their future well-being of successes.

Blog 1:Interview

I've interview two professionals from SEDOL in Lake County. The first professional works at this school for over 10 years and other professional work with her to assist other children.    The five schools main focused is bringing instructional and integrated settings in the classroom. They are bring hands-on activities that they would help them understand their needs and wants in learning.  They are proficient in sign language and other areas of helping children improve their development.  This would help them recognize the child's crisis and how parents seek ways to get support about their child's development. This program also provide personal care that would enable students to help them improve their education.  As with all of the Special Education District of Lake County, this is known as "Exceptional Services for Exceptional Students."  This is the only way to help them improve their educational performances.

The way that they influence helps me figure out their experience working in a special education classroom.  I also like the way they work with hands-on and how they find strategies that would work for the child's needs.  I'll continue observing and talking to professionals and other teachers about my topic. My area of interest is Emotional/Behavior Disturbances.  The three topics are strategies, testing and behaviors.  I really hope we could I'll find ways to change children's lives.
