I've observed the other three children who have the same behavioral and emotional disorders. I've learned to figure out more about what causes those behaviors and finding other solutions to improve in that area. At first, the two teachers tried to change their learning styles to help them understand their assignment more clearly. They did the same activity that I've discussed last time. Both the teachers are also trying to spend time like doing activities about money for example. This would show them individually how money works and how its used in our everyday lives. Later, we took tests to see how they know about what they just learned.
The two insight that I've learned is that they learned the difference between doing their own things and getting help from others or ask for help if it's needed. This would help them build their own ideas and objectives used to analyze and predict what are the best choices for them to be an successful classmates. They would also learn the manners and rules of the classroom. It's the only way to develop respect with other children. Another insight is that I've worked on testing them to figure out each child's strengths and weakness in their development. At first, it would be an easy task, but it became difficult when I asked them a question and they had no idea what to say. They were working on their basic skills in reading and writing.
It's important to enhance their learning styles by finding strategies that would work for the child's needs. The purpose of doing this writing and reading area helps them develop the importance of being an successful student. It's a way to create a wide range of activities and skills to improve their education needs. I really hope to change and improve their future development.
I noticed you stated the teachers tried to chang the students learning styled to help them understand their assignments more clearly. How successful was that. I feel that trying to change someone's learning style is like trying to change who the preson is and what makes them who they are. I find many teacher try to fit students individual learning styles into their collective teaching styles. I feel this is a recipe for disaster. We as educators must be very sensitive to each child's learning style and try to make accommodations for that individual learning style if we plan to be successful through our teaching and educational methods.
ReplyDeleteMaking sure a student's environment is very structured is helpful when dealing with behavior. Children need structure and giving choices is different than letting them do whatever they want.
