Blog 2: My Classroom Observation.

The name of the program is called SEDOL in Lake County. There's about five schools in this program. The teacher name is Mrs. K. She handles emotional and behavior problems.  I've talked to principal and director of the this school program.  There's about 5-7 kids in the classroom.  The environment is very organized. She handles the classroom very well and I don't have any problems with her students and other teachers in this school.  I enjoyed spending time with her class and I've the importance of how to handle situations in the classroom. My insight is that they have a lot of things to handle like making sure that they are staying out trouble, making sure that they know the rules of the classroom, respect other peers around them, and other important things that they should know about. My biggest challenge is how to handle children who are emotional impaired and/or who has behavioral problems in the classroom.  I feel that this is going to be a lot of work, but this would help me improve my interaction skills and other areas that I should know about.  I've asked the teacher what testing do you use to improve their children's learning, what strategies to use to improve these situations, how does diversity affect children's learning, what's their strengths and weakness in their learning, what kind of testing to use for those behaviors, and other issues that we faced in the classroom.  We are continuing researching about these questions.  My two insight is to give each child a chance to experience life of being a good children, and also making sure that I understand the importance of children's educational skills and their future well-being of successes.

  1. Hello, that is my biggest challenge also tyring to see how to help and work with children that may be emotional impaired and/or who has behavioral problems. I work now at a daycare and some of the children that have these types of problems are a handful. I believe the children need help from professionals that are educated in special education more so than those that are not. I feel the children are not being educated to their full potenial when there are no special education teachers to help them. Thanks for sharing.

  2. What is the label of the students in the classrooms you observed. SEDOL is a program that has self-contained students so what handicapping conditions do the students have?
